Spell checker?

I tried siyuan a year ago and loved it but had to leave and go back to docmost due to the lack of spell checking. I tried the use browser spell checker and it flags the words mispelled with a red underline but there's no way for me to get a prompt with suggestions and choose one. I'm using chrome. I'm trying it again, via docker on the latest image, and it still doesn't work. So, I tried the syspell plugin and it's horrible. Yes, use browser spell check is turned off. It's so glitchy. If you have multiple words that need to be corrected you will have to reload becuase after you correct one the right click does not show the plugin anymore. Also, if you're working on a header and it has a mispelled word and you correct it it will remove the header and make it plain text again.

I've reviewed a lot of kb system and docmost and trillium are the best but siyuan seems to take the good from both and end up with a really good block based system with with a database engine. The two things that are holding me back are the UI and lack of native integrated spell checker that allows one to correct the mistakes simply like every other product of this kind. I'm actually shocked you guys have been around this long and don't have something so basic. The UI is usable but it's so dated looking and it doesn't have a clean and polished modern look. Docmost has one of the best experiences for the UI.

Can we please get a legit spell checker built in nativly? Or if using the browser one make it so where the user can right click and correct the spelling like every other product of this kind?

Hello, I am the developer of the SySpell plug-in and I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with it. I haven't been working much on it recently, but I will try to pick up the pace soon.

I haven't been able to reproduce the first bug you reported. Would you be willing to help by sharing browser console logs? It seems that the plug-in is crashing on you, which is not normal.

As per the correction removing Markdown tags, that is unfortunately to be expected, it's a limitation of the current early-access feature. You can go to the plugin settings and disable "[Feature preview] Apply corrections when selected". I will work on this feature once the plug-in is more stable and performs better.

Syspell aside, are you using a recent version of SiYuan? On the last few versions, the built-in spell checker has improved significantly. You can select custom languages and the corrections will be shown in the right-click menu (right click on the underlined word). I couldn't get the feature to work well in the browser though, I think the browser falls back to the previous spell checker with no corrections. Maybe give the deskop apps a shot and see if that works better for you.

I'm using V3.8.3. The built in one,I assume it uses the browswers spell checker is what you're referring to, will flag and underline in red but how do you get the suggestions on how to correct it as right or left clicking does nothing. I'd prefer to use the built in one. A spell checker should be integrated and native from the very beginning on a application whom sole purpose is to write documentation. I've tried on chrome and brave.

On the syspell side I'm not sure if the plugin crashes or not but if I resolve one mispelling and move to the next one and right click the plugin does not show up. I have to click a few time and then it will show up in the list on a right click. Also, with the preview "apply corrections" it's the only way it will fix the mispelling when choosing one; without this enabled you can click on the correct spelling but it does nothing.

I can try to help but I need to know wich console logs you need from the browser, a snipit of when I try to do engage the plugin and it doesn't show up?

I have to use a docker version since I need my documentation regardless of what computer I'm on.

Is there a better forum for English users? I don't even see Siyuan on reddit much which is a shame because it has a lot of potential since it has features that docmost and trilium have in one system and those two are some of the more popular ones. Is Siyuan considerd mature at this time?

      Thanks for your reply.
