This longstanding issue has persisted across many earlier versions. I often create backlinks on top of inline-code (a LAYER henceforth in this post).
During the process of creating that LAYER the issue occurs and i have a annoying workaround.
Steps to recreate/reproduce issue
-
Create
inline-codewith CTRL+G (inline code). -
Copy a backlink reference from another block. What follows is a twofold issue:
- Path 1 issue: Directly pasting backlink on top of existing inline code
inline-codedoes not work and resets to e.g garbled with raw backlink:((20260816140296-2323ib2 'inline-code')) - Path 2 workaround: with backlink in clipboard first undo with CTRL+G from text, result "inline-code" without grey contour. Then pasting backlink from clipboard does work. Then add grey countour around it. The order 1. create plain text, 2. backlink paste, 3. CTRL+G grey contour, which stil resets the grey contour when edit line continues
- Path 1 issue: Directly pasting backlink on top of existing inline code
-
Continue editing line after above workaround will undo the grey contour (backlink remains like in ordering nr 2). Workaround that does work:
- Create plain text (without grey contour)
- Paste backlink
- First edit line e.g. pressing random keys or `Keyboard SPACE
- Last step is CTRL+G grey contour, which this time does stay.
Solution: This is a longstanding issue that hasnt been noticed or fixed before. I am guessing it passed unnoticed. Ideal solution would be that layered text formatting (e.g. backlinks or inline-code) doesnt reset/undo each other both ways. Right now the workaround requires a specific order of execution to solve/circumvent it.
