Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. I've just started using SiYuan as a note-taking app, and I'm really enjoying it! However, while following the provided guide, I've encountered some gaps that I think could be interesting to fill in.
Since I'm not a native English speaker (I'm from Spain), and I don't speak Chinese either, I'm not entirely familiar with the tool. I'd prefer to outline the points I've found along with my suggestions for changes to the guide, and then start a discussion on where each section should be placed.
Superblocks
The current guide in the "Formatting Elements" section mentions a feature that, personally, I found very interesting for organizing notes. It's called "Superblocks."
In the guide, they directly show how Superblocks look, but at no point do they explain how to create one. I don't know if there's a way to define them using Markdown tags, but the way I've found to create them is as follows:
- I write a couple of lines or blocks of text.
- I select both blocks and press
Ctrl+/
, which opens a contextual menu. - In the menu, I select
"Merge Superblock"
>"Vertical Layout"
. - I repeat the process for another pair of text lines.
- I select both "Superblocks" and press
Ctrl+/
again >"Merge Superblock"
>"Horizontal Layout"
.
This is the process I've followed to replicate it, but I couldn't find any page in the guide that explains either the Ctrl+/
contextual menu or the process to define the "Layouts."
Daily Notes
The only reference I've found about working with Daily Notes is a part of the guide that mentions an icon, which I haven't been able to find in my user interface.
It doesn't mention the default shortcut (Alt+5
), and it would be very helpful to add a step-by-step guide on how to set up daily notes.
In my case:
- I create a new Notebook and call it "Agenda."
- I select the Notebook menu >
Settings
. - I make sure it includes the paths for creating daily notes and a template file:
/daily note/{{now | date "2006/01"}}/{{now | date "2006-01-02"}}
- I like to separate by weeks:
/daily note/{{now | date "2006/01"}}/w-{{ now | ISOWeek }}/{{ now | date "2006-01-02" }}
- For the template, I open the marketplace and download one. I use the "Simple-Todo," which I find very practical. I guess this step should be linked to the templates section.
The next steps are related how to customize Templates. I think that is an advanced feature and require too much to document.
Welcome to here!
Here we can learn from each other how to use SiYuan, give feedback and suggestions, and build SiYuan together.
