I'd like to use Siyuan on a Synology NAS and:
- access data from the Android app;
- create local backups on my NAS;
Do I need to purchase the paid version to do these two things? If so, which one?

SiYuan does not support connecting from the App to the kernel (this feature is not available even with a paid subscription).
Backup functionality is free:
As you may know, SiYuan supports sync on S3 and WebDAV servers, with S3 being recommended. You don't need to run SiYuan itself on your NAS and access it through the app; instead you can host an S3 server on your NAS, and sync your SiYuan client on your PC and phone with that S3 server as backend.
To do this, you only need the one-time payment version, which is the cheaper of the two!
Technically, there are also some workarounds to get this funciton for free, they have even been endorsed by b3log on their Twitter in the past, but I recommend buying the paid version to support the development.
Welcome to here!
Here we can learn from each other how to use SiYuan, give feedback and suggestions, and build SiYuan together.
