At least in my case, I just want a dynamic list of the pages bested below a page. I have not figured out how to convert that request to blocks! I feel like it's totally possible and I'm just missing something.

There is a plugin/widget combination already:
- HierarchyNavigate + listChildDocs
In the settings of HierarchyNavigate you can change the page layout to include the listChildDoc widget which will then be inserted automatically.
